The Rotary Club of Weston & Wayland, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Waltham and supported by other clubs in District 7910, executed Pints for Polio 2025 on Thursday, October 23, 2025, to commemorate World Polio Day, raising awareness and funds for the ongoing eradication efforts. We have had the privilege to have among us the District 7910 Governor, Johnny Ahern. Remarks from the facilitators of the event, Jimmy Belotte and Mitchell Alexis, initiated the celebration, followed by the Rotary Club of Weston & Wayland President Robert Blackburn and District Governor Johnny Ahern.

Entertainment was assured by West of Willow and Dr. Fénelon on the Saxophone; they were terrific! Craft Food Halls enhanced the atmosphere with their lively venue, with great food, drinks, and games. We were encouraged to count among us familiar faces, some new ones, and, more importantly, many young people from Weston High School and the International School of Boston.

We want to thank all sponsors (The Village Bank, Craft Food Halls, West of Willow, The Comedy Studio), participants, and the organizing committee (Robert Blackburn, Jimmy Belotte, John Marchioni, Stanley David, Richard and Brenda DeVito, Jan Luchetti, Laura Van Zandt) who made this event a success.

For some, polio might seem a distant problem; for others, it is a constant threat. Polio is endemic in Afghanistan and Pakistan; it resurfaced during the Gaza war. The rotary has been a powerful force in the eradication effort of Polio for decades, partnering with organizations like WHO, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and many others, resulting in a 99% success rate. Events like "Pints for Polio" are crucial to finish the job; we are almost there!
