MEETING OPENING:

Meeting opening
Mark Messina led us in Pledge of Allegiance and Rotary 4-way
Tom Wintle led us in prayer
Guests: District Governor Karin Gaffney, Assistant District Governor Jim Brown

Note from the President:

Fellow Rotarians,

Our club has shown some great energy and enthusiasm these past few weeks. The District Governor was very pleased with the turnout for her visit and was impressed by how much enthusiasm was in the room. Thank you to all who made it a successful evening.

We are making a lot of progress in our efforts to generate reasons why Rotary is relevant and an important member of the community. The latest news on the partnership with the Crier will certainly go a long way in getting the word out. The car show is OUR event and we need everyone pulling together.

Please make every effort to attend this week's meeting. We need all hands on deck for the final assignments at the car show as Richard likes to say.

Seriously, we have a full agenda for this week and we need everyone who is able at the meeting. Just as important, we need everyone reaching out to friends and business associates to step up as sponsors no matter the level.

Thank you for your support and see you Thursday!

Mark
President WWRC 2017

Meeting Notes:

What an exciting motivational meeting we enjoyed tonight. Our newest member, Michael Dexter-Smith was pinned by Cindy Appleby. Michael originally from England and lastly Hawaii, gave a nice talk about being a Rotarian. He spoke about his many hats and 35 service projects.

John Marchiony spoke about Ryla and the Youth Leadership Award for Sophomores promoted by the Wayland Weston Town Crier and the sophomore parents.

Richard DeVito Jr. brought up the need to raise money and the need for sponsorships for the car show.

Our District Governor, Karin Gaffney, gave us a truly inspirational talk on what it means to be a Rotarian. She left us with a wonderful feeling about how the work we all do is so important not only in our communities but all over the world. She encouraged us all to try and attend the world wide conference in Canada next year. Thank you, Karin. Good show!

We have to speak about the getting together of purchasing food, Jan Luchetti said she would volunteer. Grills, Bruce Lee in charge.

Also, I would like to mention, welcome back to Bruce after a trying time in August for both Bruce and his wife. Great Bruce, you looked nice and healthy, back to your old self.

Secretary Eileen White

Photos from the meeting, thank you to Bruce Lee!

REMINDERS

Car Show: We have the permit in hand for the 23rd Annual Weston Antique and Classic Car Show on Saturday, September 23, 2017. We need volunteers to go to the Dedham Car Show on July 9th to hand our flyers for our car show. We will be going to a different group of car shows this year to drive attendance so stay tuned or suggest new shows and leaflet. We also need people to push sponsorships really hard this year.

We have set up a monthly golf outing for a 1:30 pm start and 9 holes (we could do 18)

The dates are:

October 12, 2017

At Sandy Burr Golf Club, 103 Cochituate Rd., Wayland, MA.

Please put the dates on your calendar. These outings are a great way to spend time with current club members and an even better opportunity to bring guests and share Rotary with potential members.

October 14, 2017 9 am to 4 pm - Weston High School is hosting its annual Pumpkin Fest, a day of autumn celebration and fundraising for Camp Sunshine, a camp for those with physical disabilities. We were wondering if you could send out a message to your members advertising this event, and inviting their children and grandchildren to come! We will have pumpkin carving, face painting, carnival games, raffles, silent auctions, live performances from student bands and organizations, and a costume contest for the children. We hope to see you all there!
