Short‑Term Exchange Update/Spain Visit
Discovering another culture—and sharing your own—through Rotary’s Short‑Term Exchange Program (STEP). This is a 3–4 week family‑to‑family exchange that pairs local students with a host sibling of similar age and gender abroad. They live with their family while experiencing a new culture and language, and then both return to the U.S., where the student's family hosts them for the same period. A perfect option if they are curious about an exchange but not ready for a full-year exchange.
This summer, Irene Rodriguez Regis from Spain and Madeline Young from Weston enjoyed a wonderful four‑week cultural exchange, exploring daily life in the United States together and building a friendship that spans continents.
Their adventure continued on Sunday, July 19th—just hours after Spain’s thrilling World Cup victory—when the two boarded a flight to Spain for the second half of their exchange. They will spend the next four weeks experiencing Spanish culture, community, and family life.
We look forward to hearing about Madeline’s cultural experience in Spain at a club meeting this fall. Given Spain’s World Cup win and the energy of summer celebrations, we’re sure she’ll return with stories full of excitement, learning, and joy.
