Wayland Festival
Oct. 03, 2026 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

🎉 Wayland Festival — October 3rd (Raindate October 4th)

The Wayland Festival is one of the town’s most vibrant community celebrations — a lively afternoon filled with local organizations, family activities, music, food, and neighbors coming together in the heart of Wayland. It’s a perfect showcase of the town’s spirit and a wonderful opportunity for us to share Rotary’s mission of service with residents who may not yet know what we do.

Why Rotary Members Should Help at Our Booth

  • Community visibility — The festival draws hundreds of families, town leaders, and local partners. A staffed booth helps us introduce Rotary to new faces and strengthen our presence in Wayland.

  • Membership outreach — Many residents are curious about service opportunities but don’t know where to start. A friendly conversation at our booth can spark interest in joining or volunteering.

  • Showcase our impact — It’s a chance to highlight our scholarships, youth exchange, community service projects, and the 9/11 flag display — all the things that make our club meaningful.

  • Build connections — Local nonprofits, schools, and civic groups attend the festival. Being present helps us form partnerships that support future service projects.

  • Strengthen club fellowship — Working together at the booth is fun, energizing, and a great way for members to spend time with one another.

🌟 Call to Action

We’d love to have a strong Rotary presence on October 3rd. Even an hour of your time makes a difference. Please consider signing up to help at our booth and share Rotary's spirit with the Wayland community.

World Polio Day
Oct. 24, 2026
How did Rotary eradicate Polio?

In 1985, Rotary launched its PolioPlus program, the first initiative to tackle global polio eradication through the mass vaccination of children. Rotary has contributed over $2.1 billion and countless volunteer hours to immunize more than 3 billion children in 122 countries from this paralyzing disease. Rotary's advocacy efforts have played a role in decisions by governments to contribute more than $10 billion to the effort.

The eradication of polio is one of Rotary’s longest-standing and most significant efforts working to eradicate polio for more than 35 years, and we've made incredible progress in the fight to rid the world of it forever. As a founding partner of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, we've helped to reduce polio cases by more than 99.9 percent.

Purple Pinky Day:
When a child receives their life-saving polio drops on mass polio immunization days, their little finger is painted with a purple dye so it is clear they have received their polio vaccine. Purple Pinkie Day is also a fundraiser where families in the US give $1 to pay for inoculating kids in developing countries, so US children who donate also get their fingers painted purple.
